Peace cannot be achieved through violence, it can only be attained through understanding.

Stop Social Violence
Scouts in Spain are fighting social violence by creating video games which promote tolerance and care. They are focusing on four main issues: gender violence, domestic violence against women, peer violence (bullying, teasing), and homophobic violence. 14000 copies of these games will be distributed throughout the country by the member associations of the federation. DescriptionThe main objectives of these four games are to create a caring attitude among young people and teenagers, developing empathy, promoting peaceful conflict resolution, and inviting young people to think about their own attitudes. The Scouts developed their project following a competition among their members, and the one selected as described here, was the one presented by Acció Escolta, a member organisation of ASDE-Scouts de España. You can find out more information from their detailed project description. In order to reach as many people as possible, the games are available in Spanish, Catalan and English. An educational guide accompanies the games. The Scouts will be able to play and the leaders will animate group discussions and debates after the games, so that the Scouts can learn more about the topic. The Scouts are using the technology that the young people know and love to communicate a message of tolerance in a fun way. Never has playing been so useful to the children and their community! |
