Our experiences in Scouting help us to find ways for us as individuals to work for peace, justice and freedom through non violent means. Together we can celebrate our unity regardless of our faith, race, nationality or other differences.

Supporting Children's Rights in Egypt through Education, Arts and Media
Scouts in Egypt are working to eliminate child labour and to help working children. They are cooperating with the International Labour Organisation's Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour (IPEC) in Alexandria and Cairo to implement the SCREAM (Supporting Children's Rights through Education, Arts and Media) project. DescriptionThe Scouts have been working on the issue of child labour since 2002, when they first started the project in Alexandria, working directly with the working children and their employers. The SCREAM programme promotes performing arts as a means for young people to explore their feelings, express them and convey their message to the wider community. The project has three stages, the first of which consists of training the trainers, so as to ensure sustainability and a multiplying effect. The second is the training of the Scouts leaders throughout the country, who in the third stage will organise activities for the Scouts and working children. By taking care of these often forgotten children and making sure they play and learn like other kids of their age, Scouts are focusing the community's attention and setting an example that others will hopefully follow.
