When we live in peace we don't realise how important this is, but we do when we lose it.

Recycling for Peace
Mexican Scouts are building peace with aluminium cans and breaking world records!
Categories :
Environment DescriptionFor the eighth year in a row, thousands of Scouts travelled to the central plaza of Mexico City to 'draw' the fleur-de-lys (the emblem of World Scouting) in aluminium cans. The Scouts collect these cans throughout the year and need to spend around 2 days to shape the design. This year, they broke the record by collecting 1,614, 583 cans and with the sale of the cans they obtained an enormous 298, 000 pesos, which they have given to charities to help those in need. The Scouts are dedicated to protecting the environment and take recycling to a new level. They also demonstrate, through this activity, what we can achieve when we work as a team and how committed they are to helping other people and building a better world. |
