Kuwait Scouts are implementing a series of solidarity programmes to support their communities and people in need outside Kuwait. They will support community development, health awareness, the collection of spectacles for those in need, donation campaigns, collection of school materials, supporting the Hajj (pilgrimage) and promoting cultural exchanges at Kuwaiti national Scout events.
The Kuwaiti Scout want to reach out to those in need, both in Kuwait and in other countries. They have therefore developed various projects as their contribution to the Gifts for Peace:
Cultural Exchange
- The Scouts will host a full patrol of Scouts and one adult leader from Sudan to participate in their national camp in January 2007. They hope to learn from this exchange and promote relations and friendships between the two countries.
Donation Campaigns
Scouts will raise money for Arab countries in need to be able to do the following:
- Build a Scout base in South of Sudan
- Provide clothes and tents to Scout troops in need
- Run Health awareness campaigns in countries in need of help
School equipment and materials
At the end of each school year, from 2005-2007, Scouts will collect their books and send them to young girls and boys with little or no materials in the Arab Scout region.
Pilgrimage (Hajj)
Kuwait Scouts will support the Hajj by hosting Muslim Scout leaders who cannot speak Arabic and helping them to make their pilgrimage.
Health Awareness campaign in Benin
The Kuweit scouts have developed a good partnership with Benin Scouts, and ran a health awareness campaign in 2006 for young people in Africa.
Spectacles
The Scouts are collecting standard medical spectacles and sending these to countries in need in Africa.
