Scouts in Zambia are developing their scouting so that they can reach out to more young people and adults in their communities. They want to be able to provide recreation and education for more young people, better training and life-skills for adults and HIV/AIDS education.
The Scouts are running activities to introduce their communities to Scouting, for example open days and company relays.
The Scouts have been supported in recent years by DANIDA (Danish International Development Agency) to run a project called 'Developing Citizens though Scouting'. They have reviewed their programmes, trained new leaders and worked on the management of the association, and they are now recruiting new leaders.
The Zambian Scouts also run the most prominent youth driven HIV/AIDS programme in Zambia, and their programme has contributed significantly to the development of the Africa Scout Region's HIV/AIDS programme.
